Dear Parents,
This week we talked about our
families. We learned about our family
members and our family tree. We talked
about our siblings and who has brothers, who has sisters, who has both, and who
is an only child. We discussed the
unconditional love that our parents and families show us and how we grow and
change over time. And we talked about
how we have wants and needs. We talked about the differences between wants and
needs and how our parents have to work so they can provide us with our wants
and needs. This week we finished up our
book on “All About Me.” The students
have really enjoyed not only learning about themselves, but also about each
other. We sent home their All About Me
book today. We worked on the book
throughout this unit, please review the information about themselves on the
front cover. The students should know
their full name, address, telephone number, and age. In math, we are continuing our work on
numbers, shapes, and colors. We also
worked on the nursery rhyme 1,2 Buckle My Shoe.

Reminders:
- Please remember to keep homework notebooks at home
and return just the folder on Friday.
We will not take folders until Friday, unless your child is not
going to be at school. If you
forgot to send in your child’s homework today, please send it on Monday. We will keep a record of homework turned
in.
- Please remember that if you put your child’s books in
their book bag, we will assume that you are done with them and ready to
turn them in. If you would like to
keep them and not turn them in, then please keep them at home until you
are ready to return them. Please do
not feel like you have to return them on Wednesday. Please read over them several times
before you return them.
- Don’t forget to write down the books you read on the
reading log. You can also write
down books you read to your child at night. But do not feel you need to write down
every single story book you read all the time. Remember the goal is 100 books. And if you write down the books from
school and a few story books from home, you will easily make it to 100
books.
- Your “All About Me” project is due on Friday. Please help your child complete
something for this project. We will
be sharing them in class on Friday.
- Just wanted to remind you to have your child here by
8:10. We begin putting up morning
work by 8:15. Depending on what
time your child gets here will depend on how much of their morning work
they do. I do not check morning
work, so you are welcome to finish any of this work at home. You don’t have to turn this work in,
please just keep it at home.
- Everyone should have received the form for our
fieldtrip in October. Forms and
money for the trip are due by October 3rd. It is very important that we have
everyone’s money turned in by then, so please go ahead and get that in! Checks are to be made to NCS. If you or an adult is going with the
student, please go ahead and send in the money for both of you ($17). I also wanted to mention that siblings are
not allowed to go on fieldtrips.
This is the school’s policy and it is mentioned in the
handbook. I know this can create
problems with you being able to go, but I have to remind you of what the
school policy is.
- Don’t forget to wash and return towels on Monday.
