Dear Parents,
This week we have talked about our communities and some
of the people that work in our community.
The community workers we have talked about are doctors, dentists, vets,
fire fighters, police officers, mail carriers, teachers, hairdressers/barbers,
and chefs/bakers. We even chose a friend in class to “write” a letter to. We did put stamps on the letters and I will
mail them. They should arrive in the
next few days. We discussed each worker
and how they help people and provide people with services in our
communities. Today we had some community
helpers come and visit us. We had
firefighters, EMS workers, police officers, and a vet to come. In math, we have been continuing to work on
writing our numbers and our shapes and colors.
Also, we have been working on counting objects. Be sure to practice counting at home. This week the students shared their “All
About Me” projects in class. The kids
enjoyed sharing their project in class.
They did a great job of sharing their projects and telling about
themselves. If anyone forgot to send
their project in, it is okay to send it on Monday. I encourage you to send
something in for them to share on this project.

Reminders
·
If you did not send in homework today that is
not a problem. You can return it on
Monday. Homework notebooks will need to
be brought in next Friday to change the calendar.
·
This week was the first time students checked
out library books. We do have library 2x
a week, but students will only check out books 1x a week. We will check out and return books on Monday’s. So library books will always need to be
returned on Monday.
· I would
like each student to send in a bag of Halloween candy. It can be any kind just be sure it’s items
that are individually wrapped you can send it in anytime in the next few weeks
before Halloween. I like to collect
candy at this time to put in our treasure box and prize boxes. Since there is so much out now, it is a good
time to purchase it and if each child brings some in, then we should have
enough candy to last us for most of the school year.
· We have
many students that have not paid for the pumpkin patch trip yet. All money is due by Monday October 3rd. Please either pay before then or by then.
· We have
a Girl Scout troop that is collecting the pop tabs. We have a container in our room to collect
these. Please save any pop tabs from
home and send them in to school.
· I am in
need of a DVD player. We have our
projector set up now. However, the Mac
computer does not have a DVD drive. I
can use a regular DVD player in the room to play DVDs. I have many movies and shows like the Magic
School Bus on DVD that I like to show in class.
I was wondering if anyone had a player that they don’t use or would like
to purchase one for the class. If so,
you can email me and let me know.
