Dear Parents,
This
week we finished talking about Martin Luther King Jr. and learned about another
famous African American, Rosa Parks.
Then we began our unit on geography.
We learned about maps – how to draw and read them. We will continue this unit next week. In math, we finished last week’s centers on: reviewing
adding and subtracting, and working on decomposing numbers 6 and 7. Students should understand that the numbers 1
& 5, 2 & 4, 3 & 3, 0 & 6, make the number 6, and that 1 &
6, 2 & 5, 3 & 4, 7 & 0, make the number 7.
Next Week
Theme: Geography Story:
Goldilocks and the Three Bears
Groundhog’s Day
Word Family: -ock, -uck, -ug Nursery Rhyme:
Hickory Dickory Dock
Reminders
- I know Valentine’s Day will be coming up soon. Next week, I will let you know our plans
for celebrating the holiday and I will send home a class list so you have
all of the students’ names.
- Please send homework notebooks on Monday. Since it is close to the end of the month
we will change everything in the notebook.
February’s calendar will be behind January’s. The new sight/spelling word list will be
added. If your child is doing Words
their Way the next month’s will be behind this month’s. And the reading homework will be behind
the current reading homework. I
will remind you next week to change all of this out so you will be ready
for February.
- Keep sending in those box tops!
- Awards day is Friday February 5th at
10:30. All students will be getting
an award.
